Here’s an exercise for you that you don't normally get from a trainer- picture the biggest thing keeping you from your fitness goals. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
Now, ask yourself this- is this the ONLY problem to be solved, or just the most overwhelming one? List some other small, totally easy, things that would be super simple to improve upon. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
Here’s my point- I meet people all the time who feel discouraged because they keep trying to solve their “Big, Bad Wolf” habit. The soda, the late night ice cream, or the rut they feel stuck in with their workout routine. Often, thinking about the Big, Bad Wolf can be paralyzing- sometimes even leading to giving up on doing ANYTHING at all. So I’m here to put this into perspective.
If you eat a healthy lunch every day, even though you don’t know what to do about the ice cream binge, it would still be a step in the right direction.
If you eat more protein for breakfast when you’re traveling for work and can’t exercise, it would still be a step in the right direction.
If you started going for a walk at lunchtime, but still drank that afternoon soda, It would still be (literally) a step in the right direction.
Finally, if you’ve done all of that, and all that’s left is the Big, Bad Wolf, you’re actually in a great place! Look at what you’ve accomplished so far! Now, how can we make that Big, Bad Wolf just a little bit smaller?
